FOUNDERTJ
I discovered creature survival games while working at my content moderator job in early 2020. As I played games like The Isle, I also became very curious about game development and immersive experiences. I started to dream about becoming a developer and making a game like TGC, I kept thinking of that dream and little by little I acted on it. When the pandemic started, I was laid off from work. From then on I threw myself fully into developing The Great Circle. No matter how it all turns out, I absolutely loved working on this game! |
ABOUT THIS PROJECTThe Great Circle aims to create an immersive and in-depth animal survival experience, where the player attempts to survive in the wild as an animal for as long as possible. THE WORLD Everything wants to live. The player will encounter animals of unique and varying attributes and stats dictated by the species. All animals attempt to live out their lives as the player does. All animals have the same basic desires and needs as the player. As time passes, the same circumstances that affect the player's survival, can affect the animals in the same environment. EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED This principal sets up choices for the player to affect their animal's survival and the world around them. The player must gain in-depth knowledge of the environment & their animal's characters in order to make better decisions for their animal's survival. As the timing and progression of all stats influence one another, the development and experience of any given animal can never be predicted or repeated. AMBIENCE The look of the environment is based on photos of African landscapes. Every sound the player hears in the world comes from a creature making the sound. A player only needs to move in the direction of the sound to find the creature producing it; from lions broadcasting their presence in the distance, to cicadas or birds on the ground a few feet away. LORE This experience occurs within speculative circumstances, unknown to the player until discovered. GRAPHIC IMAGERY Everything the player observes is primarily meant to depict the realities & experiences in wildlife. |
